I want to be able to have a computer specifically made for just being a server on the internet. I have some friends across the US that would want to play. I have started one before using the GUI interface, but when it is running, and I can join the server, when I send the IP to someone, they cannot connect to it. Ideas?

Also, give me as much info as possible to something I may be missing out on or explain the entire process of starting up an internet server for CS:Source. THANKS!

to run a dedicated server the computer must be running the server alone and not playing the game at the same time, if you want to play then just set up a server in game, this is a listen server

Make sure that you are forwarding the right ports from your router to that PC. You also have to be careful when running servers...your ISP might block it from connecting. This happened to me when I was running a Half-Life server.
