This is not easy: Put them in a box of cracker jacks.
You will have to carefully remove the wrapper, hack the box and insert them into the box, reseal it, rewrap the box and make it look like nothing is wrong.
I did this with a pearl necklace many years ago. The hardest part was trying to convince a weight conscious GF to open the box (without telling her why).

Do you have any Christmas traditions that you and your wife do every year? For instance, my mom gets up and makes all 11 of her kids breakfast so if we got her something big like that i would take the earrings box, and put it inside the skillet with the cover on it and a bow around the box so when she gets up and starts her regular tradition it has a little something extra that she'll never forget. I hope that helps.

My husband presented me with a ring last Christmas by passing me this HUGE box (with books in the bottom to wear it down and make it feel heavy), then put another box on top of the books part and another box in that until she gets to the ear rings. I kind of knew it was jewlery after the 3rd box, LOL but it kept making us laugh that I had to rip open all the wrapping paper on each new box.

Buy a gum ball machine, put the earings inside one of those plastic ball things, that kids get when they get a toy for one of those types of machine, when she puts a quarter, hear pops out the earrings inside a plastic container (to protect them from being damaged).

When my man proposed to me he put the ring in the fridge with roses and a teddy bear and asked me to go get him something to drink. It was so sweet. Good Luck.
I like the teddy bear idea to.

hanging them on the tree is a good idea. tape a nice ribbon to the box, and hang them where she'll be able to see them.
i was thinking tie one earring to each end of a ribbon, but they would probably get lost ^.^

When my dad proposed to my mother, he hid the ring in the butter dish...he came in and asked my mother to make him some toast and she found it. Perhaps you can do something similar.

put them in a wine glass and make her drink it. Take her to the hospital to get her stomach pumped, then pull the diamonds out from the puke and give them to her.
