It seems like poll voters always misjudge West Coast teams. Sometimes, they make them preseason #1 and they flop. Other times, they totally miss top teams until they win inter-sectional games. Do we know how good Oregon and Hawaii really are?

Yes. East and west coast get more than a fair shake. It's the middle of the country that gets screwed because we don't have the media blowing our horn. Oregon lost at home to a very average team. They should not be ranked this high.

I do not think that the Pac-10 gets a fair shake; well at least not the Northwest teams. Oregon Should be Ranked #2 Right now instead of those Tigers from LSU. The Ducks were givin a poor bowl bid last year; not even in the BCS despite their #5 ranking due to the unfortunate fact that they can not bring the television coverage that some of the SEC and Big-10 teams seems to draw. It really sucks that the GAME is no longer a game and is about the all mighty dollar. If Oregon and LSU win out this year and LSU gets the National Championship Bid, I for one will be boycotting The national game on the 7th of January. I guess it is just more fodder for the further debate on the BCS and the fairness(ha ha) of the computer system. GO DUCKS!!!!!!!!

We don't know how good Hawaii is because they are in the WAC. Not the most competitive conference. Oregon is ranked in the top 5, so they have made an impression. West coast teams get a fair shake. USC is ranked in the preseason top 5, if not number one, every year. Cal is always up there along with UCLA and Oregon starting in the mid teens. The Pac-10 has just as many top 25 teams as many other conferences.

Actually, the problem is more commonly the other way around where west coast schools appear to get special treatment. The PAC-10 schedules are weak, yet USC, UCLA, Cal, and Oregon always seem to get credited with high rankings without ever playing high ranking teams. In the SEC every team could win against any other team. Like the NFL, the SEC has no easy in-conference opponents (even Vanderbilt and Ole Miss have shown they can win against heavy odds). West coast schools are so vastly removed from the realities of college football--just like all the biased west coast writers that seem to make up the majority of votes in the polls. Hell, how long did it take to finally convince these people that USC was overrated?

we know how good oregon is by beating 2 or 3 top 10 teams. They have a very tough schedule. The Pac-10 is gay, but lately they have had some good teams. I am SEC all the way, but the PAC-10 deserves the rankings they have

Darth Brady believes Oregon is a very good team. However, he thinks Hawaii is a weak and untested team.

yes we know the Oregon lost to apparently not so good Cal team, and Hawaii went into overtime with Louisiana tech (one of the worst teams in the country)

Oregon is for real. They are very fast on both sides of the ball and play fundamentally well. I am a left-coaster so I get to hear a lot about USC and very little about Oregon so I agree that certain teams get over-hyped.

Maybe it's because the majority of the sports media are based in the eastern U.S. This allows them to over analyze SEC, ACC, and Big Ten teams due to themselves being fans of teams in those conferences or being from those areas. Meanwhile, the West Coast always seems like it is "over there", and Hawaii college football seems like an oddity.
