Just wanted to see if anyone had any similar experiances. I bought an item off ebay and of course used paypal. However, after a few days, the payment went unclaimed and I cancelled the payment yesterday. My online banking still shows that it has not be refunded. How long does this usually take? Its the first time I used it and I am just a little nervous that I have been ripped off. Advice? I tried calling the customer service number twice today and have been on hold for a really long time.

the seller knows I cancelled payment b/c the item was actually damaged right after I won the auction. I just havent gotten my money back from paypal after I cancelled payment. I just want to know how long that usually takes.

If the funds have been refunded to your bank from Paypal, in the uk anyway, it takes 4 or 5 days to come through,
I hope you have flagged the item as NOT SENT with Ebay so they don't hit you with non payment strike . . .

PayPal can be difficult to work with and they do have long hold times. With regards to your purchase: if an actual sale was made and the seller captured your money then a charge back to your card can be made within 24 hours. If your card was only authorized for a certain dollar amount but the funds were not captured; then you will need to wait 3 or 4 days for that authorization to just drop off. In the meantime an authorization will show in your account as a pending transaction even though the funds were not actually captured. I hope this helps.

If the payment came from your bank account, when you cancel the transaction the money will go into your paypal balance once cleared. This could take some days. Once in your paypal balance you will need to withdraw the money back to your bank account or use the money for purchases. If the payment was sent by a card it will take about a week to reflect on your statement.

Unfortunately PayPal is really hard to get a hold of. I had an issue, but not similar to yours. But it did take a little time to get a refund. I had to call them, fax them and email them.
Did you contact the seller to see why it was unclaimed? Maybe they had a bad email address linked with PayPal.
I'm sure you will get your money back, but not as quickly as you would hope.

Any electronic transfer of funds takes at least 3-5 business days. I understand your anxiety but don't worry too much yet.
By the way, make sure you do file a complaint with eBay about this seller - that's BS.

I have never had a problem with PayPal, and I have used it many, MANY times. I have it set up to take it directly out of my bank account...is this the way you have it set up for yourself?
