Didn't they begin over the bleep bleep, blipped bleep sort of morse code deal. Anyway that is what I always thought...interesting....we'll see what other people say, huh?

They say STOP to show the end of the sentence because you can't use periods on telegrams.

Morse's original code did not include the period, or any other punctuation, so the word "stop" was used to indicate the end of a sentence or message.

Because they didn't have the periods or full stops. Or maybe it was because they wanted to let the thick recipients to know where is the end of the sentence. :p

its instead of a full stop so that when the message was conveyed initially verbally before it was written or printed for the recipient there was no mistaking when a sentence finished

They "stop" don't use periods "stop" commas or exclamations "stop" THEY just print the words.
