how does infrared light eminate?

led type put out the light nessary for my needs but is too much inthe way , is the filiment responsible or the led lens?????????????

i need to make a filiment that does not emit visible light but does emit "ir" aproxx 3 inches in length is this possible? and what would it take just a reg filmt at a certian voltage or sompthing more

Red hot objects are efficient emitters of infrared light.

infrared light emitted when somthing is burning. like in front of fires u felt warm its bcoz u felt the infrared emitted by the fire.
the blackbody radiation thing, like when a body raise up to certain point of temperature, it emits Infrared.
