If we did avoid buying Chinese products, it would help our trade imbalance with them. It would also be hard to do, since so much of our products we use are made there or at least partially manufactured in China. It could even be hard to find out if there are Chinese components in a product you are considering, since products are shipped around a lot with assembly in multiple locations. But the problem with quality control in China has been there for a long time, the only thing people are upset about is that they are sloppy enough to allow poisons to contaminate the goods they send here - which will hurt our environment as well as our children. But if you think we are upset about this, you should hear how angry the Chinese public is - in their country, there was no investigation or exposure of manufacturing defects allowed, so this is making them all really upset that if they are sending out things this terrible, what are they buying on the shelves right there?

That seems like the logical answer, but many of the products are not even marked "made in China". Also we have a Free Trade agreement with them, so boycotting everything will probably put our economy in a tail spin. But I do believe there are some long standing reputable companies importing products into the US, it's the unethical ones that are ruining it for the others. Too bad isn't it?

Because there are far too many products made and imported from China to make that practical. Secondly, the consequences it would have on our economy would be devastating.
The dollar is already losing value, boycotting Chinese products would only make the dollar weaker.

I am.
I stopped buying products from china after the first major recalls.
I just didn't want to take the chance that I might buy a product that might poison one of my relatives.
I now buy books as gifts or sometimes toys from target(they have toys that are made in Spain/Italy. Not many though)

Haven't been to walmart in years, not planning on buying china **** either, but it's getting tougher and tougher not to. I'd like to see someone start a store that stocks nothing but American products, they are still out there, but getting fewer and fewer, a chain of these stores may turn the world on it's ear.

I always look to see if I can find stuff made elsewhere before I buy. I've noticed that Walmart is starting to get more made in America stuff than anywhere else. If not made in America, they have a lot of stuff made in different countries besides China. I think they've heard us.
Go to Sears or Target, you're going to find everything is made in China there too. Walmart isn't the only one.
If you want more stores to start looking for better options, I would suggest you write the stores headquarters and complain. That is the only way to get your voices heard.

That would shut down the economy completely .
Everything is made in China . Have you actually tried to buy products not made in china .
The iron in buildings , aggregate for our roads , cement , glue , nails , paint , pants ,shirts ,jackets ,shoes , cups ,saucers ,bowels, and thousands of products are made in china .
It would be impossible to provide the printer ink needed to copy this question and answer on every copier in the nation just one time without an ink shortage making the color black more expensive and forcing china to increase production of the color black .
Nothing can be done in this country any more without the trade with china . Unless you want people to go without shoes and clothes and paper and pens and shovels and screw drivers and almost 80% of everything you look at .

Americans aren't boycotting Chinese products because most Americans can't afford to, or they don't have the time to look at where everything is made, and if it is made in China, then they don't have the time to try to find a substitute that's not.

If you are able to find something you need that is not made in China, buy it! But, if you want to live a normal life without deprevation or inconvenience to your lifestyle, then get accustomed to the idea that you will have China products in your home. Besides, we would not pay the high price of things we wanted if made anywhere but China.

What about products that are made in China but the US has added something to it,like tooth brushes
My dentist gave me a toothbrush and box said made in China.
Does this mean my teeth are going fall out every time I brush my teeth with it?
