Ok so last night i was driving and the car died like slowly the lights got dim and then it just completly died. but i have a question would that be my battery or my alternator?
i let it rest and it started again but it died after it started the 2nd time i went to drive and it died again.

what do you think it iis?

alt,, your running off the battery until it dies. it takes battery voltage for the alt to work, if the car starts you have enough volts to energize the alt, and it takes a working alt to keep the battery charged, the eng systems and accessories will drain the batt, therefore no more electric, no more go

Most likely the alternator going out.

Take the alternator off and get it tested at a parts store (which they'll do for free and let you know if that's the problem)

First or foremost is checking everything before you leave your house, the b-l-o-w symbol to remember, battery water level, lights, oil, and water. Your alternator is not working properly or your battery is too low to charge your alternator, obviously it has to do with electricity or current passing in your car, you forgot to state the model & year of your car. Yes certainly, just like a person it has to do with age.

It could be either, alt. or battery if you have a volt meter put it across your battery post while running the engine. if your getting 13 volts or higher the alt is working, and your battery has probably gone bad.
If not 13 volts or higher your alt is probably the culprit.
