Yes - I brought my mum a little gold angel with a tiny ruby in - to wear on her shoulder and look over her when I wasn't around. Sadly my lovely mum died and I now have the angel with me, looking over me. I feel closer to my mum when I wear it. xxx

I have an old broken violin that was my Grand dad's. He was quite the violinist. Despite my all around natural musical talent (like grand dad), my gran gave all the good violins to a female cousin, who was considered the new violinist of the family. I doubt she plays any more or has any of grand dad's fiddles. I don't know where she is any more. Since the violin was grand dad's favorite instrument, having one of his, albeit unplayable means a lot to me.
I also recovered my grand dad's accordion last year. My gran had given it to me in my teens and it was very precious to me. However it had been stolen. By chance, I happened to see it listed on eBay. It had a distinguishing scar on the reverse of the keyboard, so I knew it was really his. Since the seller was just a house clearer, I just happily bought it. It needs a few repairs, but I how to be playing it next year. I have had a rotten year financially and unfortunately a few things have to wait.

I was lucky enough to know my Grandfather: He fought in the First World War. I talked to him about it when I was doing a project at school. He gave me a sanitised version and showed me a silver cigarette box; engraved with a foreign symbol. He claimed it came from a Turkish soldier. After he died I found it and still have it today.
The other thing is an enlarged photo of a very young grandfather, manning a large machine gun and surrounded by sandbags. I have it on good authority that it was taken in 1916 and was enlarged in the early 20's
I feel so lucky to have known him and to have the special reminders of what was a terrible conflict..

Yes, I have a pair of gold earrings that I wear almost everyday that belonged to my mother. I don't care what people think or say. I lose everything and I believe it's for a reason that I still have these earrings. My mother passed away in 2000.

I have a wooden jewelry box that my father brought me back from his holidays years ago I took it out of the wardrobe yesterday to look at some old jewellery. It used to play a tune but it would appear to be broken.

I still have the teddy bear that my great-grandmother bought me when I was born. She passed away over 25 years ago and I still miss her wise words.
