If the company wants to save money then why take this chance by having to spend so much more money fixing this problem or even law suits over children's parents that sue over their child that die.

These companies say cheaper to send overseas when the owner, presidents, CEOs are living high and mighty.

Why not make them in the US to give us jobs plus not rook us over a toy for our child.

I worked for a major toy company that does not make toys in china. The toys we make are safe and are built to last. Of course I do hear complaints by toy consumers that our toys are slightly higher in cost than some other toys. That is because our toys put safety first. The recall toys usually is produced because of how cheap it can be made through various middle men. Safety is not a concern with these middle men. Also in china there are no regulations unless imposed by the purchasing companies and still its not ensured that these sub companies will follow safety standards. For safety reasons don't buy china made toys.

PS for sirbobby Legos are not made in china but in North America that is why they cost more than the competing brands.

Despite what "everyone" says, people do not want to pay what it would cost to manufacture things in the US. Pensions, healthcare and safety requirements are expensive in the US. What we are seeing now is the result of buying products from a culture that places less value on the individual.

I'll be interested to see how all the recalls of Chinese-made toys impact Xmas shopping. I'm not expecting much of an impact, though.

The American company contracts out to the Chinese to make the toys with the specifications that are legal, the Chinese use the cheaper ingredients and keep the extra money, I'm sure they thought we would never catch it.
Its the Chinese who are cheating both the toy company and the American people. It would be better if they paid their workers more and brought their production lines back to the USA. We would all benefit.

I quite agree...

Besides... Outsourcing is not free trade. It's a treasonous MERGING of economies. It's just a tricky way to treasonously replace American workers with foreign slaves. It's also "American" companies giving away technology secrets, building manufacturing infrastructures that may be used to build weapons in war time elsewhere and treasonously paying taxes to foreign governments that might become enemies.

Time to admit we've been fooled and stop the treason of unnecessary outsourcing.

When you "compete" with a slave for a job... YOU'RE A SLAVE. The crash of our dollar is just starting to show how true that is. This is not what the founding fathers had in mind.

initially, @ Joseph II: You and something of the Clintonites could locate somebody with a good efficient winch to extract your heads out of your collective posterior. Why is each and every little thing Bush's fault? (and are not getting me incorrect, i think of he's a dimwit too, yet provide me Bush ANY day over Billy boy or god forbid Hillary). Do you no longer understand your historic past son? the one you love Billy boy is the guy who signed China into everlasting ordinary commerce prestige with the U. S. (which extra approximately them being signed into the WTO). This no longer only fee hundreds of thousands of yank jobs and extra advantageous than doubled the commerce deficit with China, yet could be quickly attributed to the recollects that we are seeing immediately, 7 years later. Its no longer the 'companies' (Mattel, Fisher-fee, and so on) that designate or enable those unsafe aspects for use. it incredibly is the chinese language production PLANT that many times unscrupulously substitutes those aspects by way of the two a quick furnish of the layout special paint/chemical/and so on, or a could decrease costs (it incredibly is the extra reasonable reason). Say the plant supervisor desires to boost the income margin so he could make his 19 cents in step with hour in step with worker payroll. He properly-knownshows a furnish of previous lead paint for a fraction of what the specified paint costs, and makes use of it to diminish the paint or substitutes it thoroughly. comparable with the chemical coating for the Aquadots. The layout spec did no longer call for a poisonous chemical, in spite of the undeniable fact that it became in all probability extra good fee for the plant to get carry of. i does not be shocked interior the least if there became a furnish of "layout spec" product that became saved aside to furnish for inspectors/shoppers/and so on, with the intention to no longer enable directly to what became happening. And as I suggested, all that's quickly linked to the undeniable fact that China has been granted everlasting commerce prestige, and now no longer should be reviewed each year. additionally for sure lacking from their commerce contract became ANY situations that would end hard paintings repression and undesirable/unsafe working situations. So earlier you bypass on a marketing campaign of "SUE the companies ITS THEIR FAULT!", and "ITS the guy IN workplace'S FAULT", do a sprint analyze and use some brainpower, and locate out what's surely happening.
