Ok to the first ignorant answer lee... Lowell is not automatic. Sox fans would love to believe that. Lowell is seeking a 4 year deal. Sox right now are offering a "strong 3 year deal". Yankees may offer 4 years at 60million. We may see him as a Yankee.

EDIT: gopats, where did you out the sox are offering 4 years? I read EVERYWHERE that it was 3 years? Can you post the link?

Supposedly Lowell was offered a three year deal according to the Boston Globe. NLM86 may be right on the money about Lowell signing with NY --- my gut feeling as well. I do see Boston making a play for Cabrera despite weight concerns.

At present the Sox are said to have a 4 year 12-15 million deal on the table for Mike.

They offered him a 3 year deal. On the radio this morning I heard $36 million, but when I checked at bostonherald.com they said that the deal was 3 years, at 12-15 mil per year, so it may be more than 36 mil.

For the Red Sox I think it depends how it goes with A-Rod. They will sign Lowell and he will play third base for them if A-Rod falls out of the mix for them. If they sign A-Rod Lowell will be gone unless A-Rod plays shortstop for them.
