80% of humanity, the religious folks, don't need to ask the meaning of life, the church tells them....the supernatural explanation. But the rest of us can't swallow religious dogma, because there's no evidence. Nobody can prove that there life after death, that people are tortured or rewarded after life or that there's invisible spirits running around.

I've come to two conclusions recently:

1. Life has no meaning
2. Life has a million meanings.

First, there's a certainty that death and annihilation awaits not only you, but the Earth in general. It's an astonomical certainty that our sun will supernova and leave the earth a burnt crisp, not to mention all the other extinction level events around the corner.

Second, the million things that give us meaning are the pleasurable experiences we can conjure up during the short period we are here on the earth, in the form of the relationships we have with our kids and other people, and the 'housekeeping' types of purposes. What i mean by that are the curing disease, ending hunger, improving literacy, reducing crime, preventing war, helping other kinds of things.

So the bottom line is, we only have a temporary meaning to life, to reduce pain and increase pleasure, other than that everything is lost to oblivion.

To be or not to be? "To be" is temporary and "not to be" is inevitable.....

As that icon Wittgenstein's converts might say,
" you have seen all these answers;therefore the answer
is everywhere-but because it was asked,it is nowhere
too. And perhaps(this would be the older wittgenstein
espousing) this is due to the deterministic tendency of
those darwinians who say that there are at least two
answers to everything."
Except things like rediscovered laws;Or new answers to old questions.
For-and this is my cent-worth, humankind does change
the world(even negatively); And in doing so he and she
change their knowledge.Whilst our representatives
=teachers)challenge this,individuals dont have to.They
can seek contentment elsewhere.
(p.s. And we can say, about the two answers-to-everything above that one is weak, another strong. And i think much
more can be said about this, although not here)

The meaning of life.
Where to begin? There are many viewpoints, and is really what you perceive it to be, what your life means to you.
We are just another part of the chain.
We are born.
We reproduce.
We die.
Wether there is an afterlife is a completely different matter, and we would then be getting into the meaning of the afterlife. LOL.
If life has a meaning, does that meaning mean nothing when we die, and if so would it actually mean anything in the first place? And is there a meaning of death?

If you really want the answer, then you have to ask the Creator of it. God has a plan for your life, and each one He has created.
In the beginning, when man chose to listen to Satan rather than God, the plan got really messed up....but God always had a plan to allow us to choose to love Him, or not.

If you think about it love has to be freely given...it cannot be forced...so God's plan was to allow us to choose....so He sent His only Son, Jesus, to die in our place and "redeem" us so we could be reconciled to God.

Jesus says "I am the way, the truth, and the life( eternal life).
No one comes to the Father, but by Me."...and "He who has the Son (Jesus), has Life...but He who has not the Son, shall not see Life, and the wrath of God abides on Him.

The choice to find Life, and the real meaning of it...is to listen to what God says. Tell Him you want to choose His Son to be your personal Savior from sin. You admit you need a Savior, and He does the rest. He takes away your sin (because Jesus died for them), and then God is able to
forget your sin, and receive you back....and He gives you a whole new Life....which is what you are asking about.

All I can tell you is God is awesome and amazing in His love for us. God wanted us to love Him freely. That is the real meaning why we are here...to give us that chance.

Get a Bible and read John 3:16 and 17.

Hi Andrew.

As a 14 year old girl, I am not sure. But I believe that it is about pursuing your dreams, and since everyone's dream is different their meaning of life will be different. As you mature, your perspective of the meaning of life will change.

I hope that helped answer your question

To love, to give, and to give love, to listen, to make someone happy. Not to worry about things you can't influence, but to try influence things that can be influenced and should be influenced for you and your friends, partners, family to live a happy, content life. To ignore the grumpy ohters, who are jealous, and then to smile a lot, to make them even more jealous.
If you make others happy, and help the others, then, you will get it back one day, and will find the meaning of life for yourself!

The meaning of life is a tin of corned beef. We are all trying to find the key.
