The gorilla feeds on nettles. It has very thick skin and is not bothered by the nettle's thorns.
Several catepillars feed on nettles. They avoid the spines by bending themselves around them as they feed on the leaves. The spines also help protect the catepillars from being attacked by preditors - unless gorillas appear.....
