It is completely up to you and your partner. I had to know myself! Just remember you won't know 100% until the child is born. I am due in a week and I was told 'girl' from 2 ultrasounds but I am not taking the tags off of any girly stuff till she is here. If you find out just don't let yourself forget it could be the other and I'd suggest stapling receipts to all items that are very boy or girl oriented to save a possible headache later! Of course, with a boy it's probably easier to be certain in some ultrasounds, girls can be more ambiguous I think! Plus when you have your shower if everyone has heard the sex they will buy you all pink or blue, versus a sea of green and yellow!! GL

I actually enjoyed knowing the sex of my baby. It helped me visualize him better. I also was better able to get prepared - have clothes handy in boy colors instead of the gender neutral yellows (which don't look good on many people). I was able to design his nursery into a more boyish look that he can then use into his toddler years.

Some people prefer not knowing saying it is the only true surprise when a baby is born. But I preferred it and my surprise was everything else - how he looked, his size, his mannerisms. Plus, I've heard from people that didn't find out what they were having had a slight disappointment when their baby was first born because they expected him/her to be the opposite gender.

Well, I think it depends on you. I couldn't stand the waiting! I just had to know! I am a planner and I couldn't imagine buying things after the baby was born. I knew it was a boy and everything was ready. My sisters have 4 boys, so I had a TON of stuff from them. But all of my friends that have had babies in the last few years, did not find out the sex. They just picked greens or yellows for colors and it worked out fine as well! So either you like surprises or you want to be prepared!

I have always found out because I buy clothes before the baby is here and i don't really like buying yellows and too many whites. I am pregnant with my fourth right now but I don't know if I'm going to find out because I still have everything from my other kids and I have stuff for both sexes. So, maybe this one will be a surprise.

We decided to find out. I told my husband that I needed a "half-mark" surprise because I thought that 40 weeks was too long. I also told him that the surprise for when I have the baby is what he'll look like.

I'm also not a big fan of too much yellow or green, so we decided to find out.

But in the end, it's really a personal choice. I know some people that didn't want to find out for personal reasons... but whatever you decide on... Congrats!!

I think it's a personal choice, I was personally on the fence but in the end decided to find out. This is our first and have enough surprises on the way without having to go out and get gender specific things after the birth. This way we can be prepared and have everything ready ahead of time.

I think it's fine. Although I chose not to. I want to be surprised. But I understand why most women just want to find out. There are a lot of pros and really the only con to finding out is that you won't be surprised at delivery (oh, yeah, and the small risk of them getting the gender wrong-- it does happen!). My sisters told me there was nothing better than hearing their babies' fathers say "it's a ____" at birth. They wouldn't change that for the world. So, I'm going for that. And I'm sacrificing all of the pro's. It's your decision.

only if you dont mind what the sex is.

some people will abort a child if its not the sex that they want.

e.g. women with 4 boys already is pregnant and wants a little girl. finds out she is having another boy, she may abort this boy because she doesnt want another boy.

this is why some hospitals have policies on not telling the mother what she is having.

I'm 10 weeks, and I want to know asap! :)
I just want to be able to buy stuff for the baby (in the appropriate colors, etc.) and have it all done by the time he or she gets here!
