Allow me to posit that the term, "modern" computer may be hard to pinpoint.

Would the "modern" era begin with the laptop?

Perhaps your, personal definition would begin the the introduction of a graphic user interface. (GUI)

Maybe the modern era began with the introduction of Bill Gates' DOS, and the early PCs.

The creation of BASIC computer code?

Or is it the first switch operated home desktops?

Solid state electronic components?

Invention of the transistor?

ENIAC mainframe?

Where does your PERSONAL, expert opinion place the beginning of the "modern computer?"

Why do people not know anything? Because they don't bother to learn. Rather unfortunate, because if you don't learn, you stagnate, and in this world, if you do that, you fall back.
