Eleanor Rigby and Father McKenzie are connected by the church that Father McKenzie preaches at and Eleanor Rigby cleans . She is the custodian " she picks up the rice in the church where the wedding has been"- And she died in the church..
The "dream" she lives in is she wants to marry.
Eleanor's dream is further developed in the line "wearing a face that she keeps in a jar by the door."she puts on make up to look beautiful, She waits each night by her door, waiting for a caller, all prettied up with no one to notice. Although Father McKenzie has a higher station in life than Eleanor Rigby he is no more successful. No one listens to his sermons; no one is saved by his words. And here's something interesting: he is doing what then would be thought of as women's work (darning his socks) It should seem that both these two should get together but this is impossible because the church makes it impossible for priests to marry in the 60's
Shouldn't have Father McKenzie at least befriended Eleanor? After all he was the shepherd of the church. He could see Eleanor, a dreaming, lonely woman sitting back there, wedding after wedding . And at her funeral, it seems the only thing he's concerned about is his unsuccessful sermon. "Wiping the dirt from his hands" even seems to suggest he's washing his hands of responsibility to this lonely woman.
"Eleanor Rigby died in the church and was buried along with her name" means that she was childless and friendless.

What I would suggest is this: It sounds like you're going for sort of a bohemian, flower child, hippie thing already, with the hemp dress and the flowers in your hair. So have that be your theme! Find out what type of flowers grow near the church your wedding will be held in, and base the colors off of that. There were be plenty of flowers in April, so some of your decorations will already be there - free of cost! Maybe your colors could be, for example, green and light pink, because of the flowers. Try to base your wedding around concepts that are important to you - and it sounds like you're already doing that!

We don't throw rice here anymore because it kills the birds. We throw bird seed. It works just as good and is good and safe for the birds.
