Shan, what I have done is spell everything correctly, but used the wrong word (but it was spelled correctly). It reminds me of a ad for a home that was for sale here. One of the features was a "large deck overlooking lake", except the "e" in deck had another vowel in it's place. Spellcheck must have let it go by because it ran in the paper!

No, I have never felt smug over spellcheck not finding anything to correct. It is like Gladys said....there is probably an i where an e belonged making it a total different word, so spellcheck doesn't catch it. That is not a smug feeling.

I rarely use spellcheck. I learned 60 years ago how to read and spell, and the 11 years I spent in school simply reinforced and added to my knowledge.
Then I went to the school of life and kept learning.
I have nothing to be smug about. I've enjoyed life and learned a few things and met lost of really nice people. I've loved and lost and loved again.

I wouldn't say smug... it pleases me that my spelling might be improving a bit... but at times I don't even trust it "spell check" and have to pull up "Word" copy everything over and test it there too... lately some folks have been pretty critical of us spelling and grammar (or is it grammer) impaired people. I can assure you some of us are TRYING... the same word having so many meanings gets by me quite often... a big SORRY for that impairment too.

Oh yes, I always use it. I've always been a spelling freak, and yes I do get a little thrill to have no errors. Specially since I touch-type (after many years away from the keyboard) and feel great that the old skills are still there in the fingertips !

Spell check is useful but not always reliable.Like any first draft, no matter how brief, should be proofed, good spelling or not. I just proofed a piece in a local English language newspaper where the author said "the weather bothered her allegories". Not too hard to figure that one out.

No, I never really paid much attention to if I had all the words right. There are certain words I spell wrong every time though, you think I'd learn. lol Sometimes even spell check can't figure out what I'm trying to say.

The spell checker here can only be as correct as the person who wrote the program. That's far from perfect, indeed.
It is better than no checker, however.
No, I don't get smug. I have always been good at spelling.

That type of smug I spell s-m-a-r-t.
Anything but sad to me.
What I find sad is when people make signs, and they spell words wrong on the sign. Sheesh. People pay you to spell the words correct.

after writing out a question or reply, you press the spellcheck and nothing is spelt in the wrong way? Oh what a sad life I must lead!!!!!
honey you just spelled spelt you should of saif and nothing is spelled wrong>
No i was just playing, i don't bash people on here unless they deserve it. But no i don't get smug..i just try to spell it right the first time and not use spell check. But i know i spelled allot of words wrong above and that's b/c i wanted to and sometimes i type way to fast. But you should of siad spelled not spelt..that would of been the correct way to write it in your question.
