just push yourself to get on as many as possible. at the end of the day, after being scared out of this world, you'll look back and say, "hey that was kind of fun...i'm not scared anymore." or something like that. =]
i was the SAME way.

I think you have good reason to fear these rides.
Did you see how many accidents took place last year? Did you see the news article about the girl who had her feet cut off on a ride. The people that died?
Thanks to the wonderful way our government works, the industry managed to make themselves self governing. Since then accidents have increased dramatically.
Now to put things in perspective, you are more likely to be killed in the car on the way to the theme park, but there is still risk involved. And I don't personally like to risk death or maiming, just to go on a ride that I won't enjoy anyway.
Now I've been in a hot air balloon, a glider, a little helicopter. And I have no problem with those kind of things. But those rides do nothing for me.
I did ride one of the largest coasters in the world at Busche Gardens, just because my wife wanted to. But I got nothing out of it at all. Being dropped from 17 stories is just not cool with me!
Now I went to Universal Studios, and they have some amazing rides that are exciting and breath taking, without being at all dangerous. Their 3D Spiderman ride is one of the most technological rides in the world. But you never get higher than a few feet off the ground. But thanks to an amazing technology it feels and looks very dramatic, without the danger. Their Men in Black ride was cool too. Again, fun without being too high up.

Ricky,
Get in touch with us. My (7year old) son Josh and I will take you to 6 Flags Great Adventure in Jackson, New Jersey this spring (admission is on us) and we will break this curse.
Start small and work your way up.My theory is something happened with you regarding these rides and how you interpret them when you were young, we'll just need to get past that. I have a system that is fool proof and will turn you into the biggest coaster fan around. You may even intimidate your wife when you complete the course.
So, no kidding, get yourself (and your wife) here, and we'll get you in the park and on the way to being a coaster pro in no time!
~Steve
ps
unlike my son Josh, i was 19 when I went on my first roller-coaster. But once I did and discovered how thrilling it is I never looked back and will always be looking (along with Josh) for the next biggest fastest coaster.

I was always so darn scared you wouldn't believe how scared I was of rollercoasters until my younger brother went on his 8th grade field trip to islands of adventure and rode dueling dragons. He begged me to go on the next time. I did and the secong I got on the seat I thought "I'm so gonna regret this" so we start going and i see a drop, my heart was pounding ready to have a heart attack. Suddenly we're going really fast and it is so awesome. It wasn't scary at all because we were so fast for me to really know what was going on. I couldn't tell when I was upside down, I just looked around and it was so much fun going so fast. It was the best feeling ever. Ever since then I've liked roller coasters. So just try one to get over it. If you still have doubts start with a small one like the flying unicorn in islands of adventure. It's still pretty scary a little. Roller Coasters aren't for everyone and you might hate it once you try but you need to find out. So I suggest just trying one. If you don't like then you never have to go on one again.

Maybe you are scared of heights or the drops of the roler coasters. If you are scared of heights don't look down. And on the drop just before just close your eyes on the way and think that it will be over with soon. Once you get to the bottom of the drop think how much fun you had on the way down.

Start out with a small roller coaster and gradually move your way up to the best of the best. If you are on one and you are like "I can't do this anymore!" Then just close your eyes and take deep breaths. Hold on to the person you are on with. My cousin who is deathly afraid of that kind of stuff was able to take a small one and now she can't get enough of it!

hiya ricky, big rides have never bothered me, however im scared to death of steep slides like you can get at theme parks etc, to try and over come them i actually forced myself to do it, which i did do, i cried and shaked even after i done it, but im still so frightened of it, you are not a coward im sure there is something your wifes scared of, also my sis hated all rides even tea cups, she has just started to overcome the fears of all fair rides by starting on smaller rides and working her way up and now she really enjoys them. good luck

eat a big meal, preferably with lost of grease, drink a large coke or other fizzy drink, eat a rich ice cream, then go on the biggest rollercoaster you can find.
you'll be so busy trying not to be sick, you'll not notice the ride !
IT WORKS, but make sure only a real buddy sits next to you, and take a towel....
