Can someone tell me how to get GBA games to work on a DS? I have put it in the right slot but I can't get it to work. I don't know much about these games and my son's have both GBA and DS. Thank you

If it's not working, I think it may be because the system goes straight to the DS game instead of the GBA game.
If that's the case, try to turning the DS system on without a DS cartridge in the smaller slot 1. It should go to the DS start up menu. From here either touch or use the directional pad to select the box labeled "GBA game", "GBA cartridge" or something to that effect. The GBA game should start playing.
It is possible to change the settings of the DS to go directly to the start up menu instead of loading the DS game. This would be prefered because leaving the slot empty can allow dust and other stuff to get into it. The instructions to change the setting should be in DS users manual. If you have any questions, come back here.
If you've already tried that, then it could be that the hardware is not working properly. If that's the case I would take back to the store you purchased it and inquire about a replacement. If they won't, then I would check your warranty with Nintendo and contact them about it.
Without a bit more info, it's hard to say for certain what the problem might be.

When you put it in the bottom slot and turn it on you should get a main menu for the DS. You can choose to play the game in the top slot or bottom slot. Choose bottom as that's the one your GBA game would be in.

Try taking out the DS game if there's one in. Something in the options is probably set to start the DS slot first. If you take that game out and only have the advance one in then it should default to that slot. Make sure the label is facing out as well.
