It's hard to say. Some is and some ain't. Either way, a serious relationship - including common-law - is often considered being married but without the meaningless document.

married is a very loose term used with the young people now. So if they have a b/f or g/f they will say that it is their husband or wife. Its kinda replacing "my boo" So now its "my wife" or "my husband", thus putting their status as married.

Is it really that big of a deal? They just want to put something down. Either its because they think it is funny or they dont want to put single or something because they dont want people talking to them.
