Bartok's main title theme from The Shining is also famous for making extensive use of the lower violin registers.

It's NOT Bach's Air on the G string, because that's not really the name of the work. Rather it's the 2nd movement of Bach 3rd (4th) orchestral suite in D. And even it it were names Air on the G string, it would never be played completely on the G-string ... wouldn't make sense.

August Wilhelmj arranged it that way.
