most guys don't like hitting girls
....we had to have girls on the soccer teams in high school, and even that was tough because I couldn't play the same against girls as I could the guys
and while some girls can be "tuff"
most are not.....and that's hard to get out of 'our' minds

I don't think that guys think women can't play football. It's that most of them can't play as physical as the guys do. I've always been taught not to hit a girl, no matter what the situation is. I just couldn't bring myself to drive one into the ground when she's coming out of the backfield or catching a slant over the middle.
I'm sure girls can play, it's just probably better for them to play with other girls. I wouldn't have a problem with some girls playing in a pick up game at the park. You can still grab them and gently lay them on the ground. But guys get pretty competative even in a pick up game.

A lot of guys don't think women can play football because most ladies who try out even for high school teams usually don't make it through.
Most ladies have not proven that they can hang with men in an organized level such as high school or college much less in the NFL.
When was the last time you saw a women in college or pros go against 300 lb offensive linemen? There's a difference between being "tuff" and being vastly undersized. I say when a woman can prove that she can play in organized football against men, more power to her. Someone has to prove that first though.
I think that you are waiting for a lady to prove that she can hang with the guys in college and the pros on a national stage. That's a lot bigger than your circle of friends.

Some guys just aren't comfortable with it and it could be for any number of reasons. Personally, if I were playing touch football I wouldn't care if girls played, but I'd be scared playing tackle football with a girl for at least three reasons. First, it'd be rather embarrassing if I got tackled by a girl and the guys would hold that over my head for a while. Second, I wouldn't want to hurt the girl, I know that girls can tough (heck they've got to be to give birth), but I just wouldn't be able to tackle a girl like I would a guy. Third, I'd be afraid I might accidently touch things that I shouldn't, if you know what I mean. I know, its mostly silly stuff, but its just how some guys think.

My son was on a 10-12 year old team. The only girl in the league ended up on his team because she was the last person left in the player draft. I saw her the first day running the first 40 yd sprint....she bent over and puked! That would have made her season highlight drill. She ended up on the D line. The coach basically had her just go to her hands and knees to make a human obstacle on every play. At the end of the practice the kids would circle the field...she was always last by a good 75 yards. Total waste of time. It ruined the team and they won one game.

Hey...for the most part, the stereotype is true, and in a majority of the cases, it is wrong, and to an extent unfair, for a girl to play football (What I mean by unfair is that I knew of a girl who played on her high school football team. The other team was afraid of hurting her so they didn't tackle her as hard. They would drive down to the 1 or 2 yard line and send her in. It was almost automatic. It was a "guy" mindset thing. It didn't matter that the coach told them to "act like she was a guy", most of the guys just couldn't. I mean, who wanted to be the guy that broke the girl?). However, I'll tell you this, mainly because I'm not at all in doubt about my masculinity, but I played football as a linebacker. We played one team that had a girl on OFFENSIVE LINE, and on one particular play, they had to dig me out of the ground because she ran flat over me (of course, she weighed about 220, so it wasn't that embarrassing....well....yes it was haha). So there, yes select girls can play football.

Some women can, some women can't... I think the original reason came from some women's frames are more fragile than a man's frame, so it wouldn't be good for a big bulky guy tackling a fragile cheerleader type girl on the field and breaking her in half... Though if the woman has the type of frame for football where getting tackled by a big guy like that won't really do anything, then that's cool. :)

Girls can be 'tough', but most can't handle the kind of tackling guys do to each other. On average(not all but in general), girls bodies aren't built as physically strong or to take as much punishment from outside contacts like men can. There are always exceptions.
Maybe they want to play as rough as they want, and don't want to have to worry about you getting hurt?

Wow great question. to start in extreme college I performed on a similar freshman group by way of fact the 1st female ever to play soccer in my college. She wasn't dealt with in any different case then the different participant, and as quickly as she had a helmut and pads on it became almost impossible to tell her intercourse. the different in spite of the undeniable fact that, brings up an extremely exciting criminal question. for sure human beings opt to decline, considering that adult adult males are extra athletic than females giving them an unfair benefit. in spite of the undeniable fact that, i'm unsure legally, the college can give up adult males from partaking with out have a male volleyball group.
