My uncles told me that long ago, no need of a class. Kilroy was here! Universal American GI, doughboy, and Grunt attitude and humor. I wish today's troops showed some of it. I would feel more confidence in the future if they were not so obedient! One old saying from 'Nam came from an outhouse wall. "Nixon is going to withdraw!" and right under it "withdraw is something Nixon's daddy should have done fifty years ago". It does not mean I am not proud of them and don't support them. I have kin with them. It just seems unnatural for American troop's to be so loyal to any politician or administration. Nothing has come from this entire war from the troop's protesting the strategy. And I am just not used to this....I don't see it as an improvement. It seems like surrendering basic rights to American individualism to me. Even in the civil war both sides cussed their individual presidents, administrations, and had cynical jokes about different Generals. They fought hard, but they did not surrender individual freedoms....

Kilroy.
Here is just one of the stories of who Kilroy actually was.
(There are many.)

This Legend of how "Kilroy was here" starts is with James J. Kilroy, a shipyard inspector during WWII.
He chalked the words on bulkheads to show that he had been there and inspected the riveting in the newly constructed ship.
To the troops in those ships, however, it was a complete mystery — all they knew for sure was that he had "been there first."
As a joke, they began placing the graffiti wherever they (the US forces) landed or went, claiming it was already there when they arrived.
