at first it feels like flutters in your stomach when the baby moves or kicks. then as the baby starts getting bigger they def feel more like kicks and jabs. i am 17 weeks with my 2nd and it still feels like flutters with an occasional poke. when you are 5 1/2 to 6 months is when they start becoming a little uncomfortable. but i loved it :)

I don't quite get the butterfly analogy. I thought of it as if you were holding a worm in the palm of your hand and closed your hand around it and felt it squirming around. That is in the early stages. I never once had a kick that hurt even when she turned and my belly was moving all over the place. I can say she kicked me in some pretty weird places because she was a very very long baby 23" that didn't even hurt. Its an experience like no other. Enjoy it.

They feel like little butterfly flutters when you first begin to feel baby between 17-22 weeks most likely. After that I've been feeling stronger movements/kicks. They haven't been hurting at all...just feels like slight pressure. It's a beautiful thing =]

well when i first started feeling the baby kick when i was like 16 weeks they felt like little muscle twitches or gas(sry but thats the BEST way to explain it) but now at 22(almost 23 weeks) the baby kicks hard and punches hard but it doesnt hurt. i woudl imagine later on in pregnancy it could hurt but it doesnt now. good luck and god bless!!!

early on they will feel just like little gas bubbles, then later as the baby gets bigger, you will feel the kicks and elbow jabs which can feel uncomfortable
