That was General Joe stillwell , quite a man he fought in ww1 in France and ww11 in China and Burma he lead the chindits and won many battles fighting the Japanese against great odds , he was called vinegar Joe because of his caustic comments while watching field drill when comander of fort Benning , He also had a career as a diplomat which he hated

Historically, General "Vinegar Joe" W. Stilwell was an uncompromising military leader. He lead the Chindits (a British Indian Army "Special Force" made up of the 77th Indian Brigade and the Indian 3rd Infantry Division) in May, 1944 when British General Slim handed control of the Chindits to him, he also commanded the 5th and 6th Chinese Armies and later the 22nd and 38th divisions of the Chinese Army in the China Burma India theatre.
