Addicts of drugs,alcohol,(no not smoking--I don't think anyone sells all their electronics,food stamps,etc- to buy cigarettes.)

I'm in that age group as well as most of my close friends. While not all of our marriages have survived - none of us are "addicts" and all have kids that we love dearly and spend almost all of our time with when not working.
I quite resent your sweeping generalization.

Most addicts have underlying mental illness issues, and it's my opinion (because im' a recovering alcoholic, and i've seen many people in bad positions with drugs and alcohol).
These people use drugs and alcohol to escape from their reality. Progressively they may become addicted, and their addiction is the most important thing in their lives.
Addiction doesn't discriminate... people of all ages and income brackets can have a problem.
Addiction is a powerful disease, and it's tough to break. You might find more information if you do a Yahoo search on the subject. You can also look at Narcotics Anonymous and Alcoholics Anonymous websites.

most men that age are dogs and can't help but cheat because their sorry momma didn't teach them anything growing up.
