There are some studies and research that indicate that there may be a 'god center' in our brains. If, during brain surgery, this area of the brain is stimulated the most devout Christian would become an atheist and the staunchest athiest would believe in a god.
Temporal lobe epilepsy symptoms seem to validate this theory.

first, god as most people would consider the entity does not exist. the idea of considering god in human terms is a rather futile exercise, once certain assumptions are considered. without being too verbose, here are a couple of the more important assumptions. god is infinite. if that is agreed, then that concept by itself negates most human consideration of god. humans are finite beings, or finite vessels. a finite vessel cannot contain an infinite amount of anything. based on this, humans cannot truly describe, consider or understand the infinite that god is. in addition, if god is infinite, then the word god cannot be used, because it is also finite. words are finite symbols used to define finite human perceptions. this goes quite a way as to explaining why there is such confusion among humans over the concpets of god and how to interact with god.
god is what humans have attempted to label the energies that exist in the universe that embody the universe. based on this line of thought, the second part of your initial question is likely most appropriate. we are all components of the universe. we all share in its energy. what humans have been able to understand about the energy in the universe through science is that energy cannot be destroyed. it can only change states. if you follow, then energy is infinite. if the energy that is the universe is infinite and you allow for any concept of god being infinite, then god and the universe are one and the same. that said, we are all part of the energy that is the universe. that makes all of us god...

We are all thing and no-thing. Those are just 2 aspects of life.
In Japanese it is called Myoho. Myo is the non-thing, ho is the thinginess of life that includes thought because thought is the action of the mind in the brain.
So the god/God is the puzzlement and the wish for non-responsibility and the thought, speech, and actions. The thought speech and actions are the thinginess, the puzzlement and wish are the no-thing aspect.
For persons who puzzle in other ways and don't wish for responsibility transfer, reality is different and much more fun.

'God' as a body, the 'God' of the monotheistic religions, is imagined only in the believer's mind; I can't even say he/she/it 'exists' in the believer's mind.
The real body of 'God' is the Infinite Totality of Existence, material, semi-material and non-material.

God is an entity that is unlike anything that we have reference to here on tis plain of existance.
The bible explains that once you are in heaven, you will have all the answers and complete understanding.
It is hard for some people to come to grips with the concept of God because they have no frame of reference to relate. That is one of the reasons(among many) God sent his only son, Jesus to this earth. Through Jesus' example and life, we have something "earthly" to relate, thus making it easier for the human mind to come to grips with what God is and means to the people of this existance.

In the same way that love exists and yet has no physical component, God exists and yet we know nothing of any physical component. God exists in spirit as surely as love exists. He who does not know this or refuses to believe it, is spiritually destitute.

While I fully agree with the views of Shri CIH [Ret}, I have to add that you can wake up a sleeping person, but you cannot wake up one who is feigning to sleep.
