Hi,
How do people feel about great shows like CSI, Criminal Minds and Without a Trace, doing more and more shows with kids, children being murdered or missing? It seems everyweek they have kids on it now. It is very upsetting and I have now stopped watching Criminal Minds. What do you think????

Jaimeson ; I watch these shows to get out of the real world for an hour, watch how they solve crimes. Not to see children get murdered. Of course I know it happens in real life. That's not the point of my question. Do you have kids? It goes much deeper than the real world. If there is a level two out there that can delete this answer I would apperciate it. Thanks

I have stopped watching all three of these shows, partly because of all the kid storylines. I know these have more of an impact, but that kind of story looses it's shock value and impact when it keeps being redone. It's all about pushing the envelope and shocking everyone. CSI, for a while, starting dealing with a lot of weird sex stuff as well, and that's what turned me off on that show. I haven't watched it for the last 3 years.
This is just an FYI, if you're looking for a good crime drama, try NCIS or Numb3rs. Both have a great cast, good characters, and the stories have stayed pretty tame so far. Both also have a lot of humor, which is always nice. : )

It seems that children are hitting the golden fortune to their ratings... Even though it is very tragic that people actually watch this stuff (it still pulls up their ratings).... Or maybe their having a murdered child marathon or something (I’m sorry it's not funny). I've actually stopped watching this stuff (since their story can actually exist and it’s brutal!) and dedicated my extra-time doing nothing…

IN the real world kids get murdered all the time and a lot of these shows are inspired from articles from the newspapers. You could always watch something else instead of these shows

i know what you mean
somehow its more tragic when its a child and it has more of an impact
an impact we dont really need, i watch them for the interest in how they solve a crime, and you can detatch a little more if its a faceless adult, but as always when a child is harmed, it has a more profound effect

I know it is so tragic when I see so many kids getting hurt, kidnapped or killed. I agree 100% with you
