The novice is behind a NAT and firewall, he has a static local IP.
We are planning to use the "Using Remote Assistance via saving a file" method found here: http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb457004.aspx#EFAA

Does the novice need to forward port 3389 TCP only to his static local IP? Does the "msrcincident" file contain the novice's external IP information or do I need to edit it at all? Also is the connection RC4 encrypted like Remote Desktop?

Don't waste your time. Remote Assistance and Firewalls don't mix.
