A Grand Cherokee isn't really anything special. If I wanted to spend $30-40k on a truck/SUV, I would get a Toyota Highlander hybrid or a fully-loaded Tundra.
I live in Augusta, GA, where you are almost required to have a truck or an SUV.

I live in Chicago, and the price of gas here is a little higher than the national average, so if I had to buy a car for everday transport, I would run as fast as I can from the Jeep. It gets terrible gas mileage, and terrible reliability ratings. I bought a Subaru outback Wagon instead of an SUV type vehicle. It has AWD for those wet or snowy days, has pretty good cargo space, with or without the seatback down, and I am getting around 22 to 24 miles per gallon on mostly city driving, but has plenty of power for highway driving. Best of all it handles just like a car. Good luck deciding!!! It's always fun picking out new cars!!!

Money should always be an issue,I would recommend checking consumers reports.vehicles lose value as soon as you sign the papers.
I have owned 3 toyota's ,all have lasted longer than the payments.currently I have a tacoma 4x4,279000 miles.most people get bored of them.
