Hmmm, maybe you left out a few words, because it is EXPECTED to feed your baby, or he will die, lol. But I think you were talking about solid foods, if this is the case, you can try solids around 4 months.

It is an individual decision. It also depends on your child. My daughter is two months and gets bottles with rice cereal, formula, and i just started her on jar baby food. She only gets it at dinner time and only a small amount. I am also a first time mom, but my whole family did the same and we are all fine and healthy. You could also try mixing some jar food in with a bottle of water until your baby gets better with eating off a spoon. My daughter will do good for about 15 minutes, but then wants her bottle. Take it slow and good luck!! Oh and congrats new moma :)

It's okay in a lukewarm sort of way. Most pediatricians prefer you wait until six months. Breast milk or formula offers the best mix of fats, proteins and carbs in a baby's diet in a more easily digestible and less allergenic form.
Problems of early solid food feeding include development of food allergies and possible obesity from ingestion of hyper-caloric foods.
Babies were routinely fed solids early until the late 1960's. The drop-off in cases of infantile eczema was quite noticeable.

there are plenty of moms who feed before 6 months, myself included. it's a personal decision. your ped will most likely recommend waiting. your baby may not even want the food when offered. some babies are not ready so don't push it.
if when you put food in his mouth it comes right back out, he's not ready. give it a few days, week or whatever and try again.

I started my son on solids at 3 1/2 months. I started with rice cereal mixed with formula first. Then just recently we have started him on vegetables (Gerber stage 1). I am waiting on the fruit and juice.....I don't want him developing a "sweet tooth"

yes you can introduce solids (and by that I mean liquid or pureed solids) at around 4 months. but start with vegetables first and work your way up to fruits. this is the time to watch for allergies or sensitivities to foods. remember they won't have a problem the first time round, it will be on the second or third. you can also start giving cheerios or simple foods like that (when they start getting enough teeth to manage) but by all means avoid complex proteins like peanut butter until older as this is what has caused the sudden rise in peanut allergies in small children.

I did slightly of becoming my own infant foodstuff, merely determine you have a good foodstuff processor, as for the smoothies, i could in line with threat carry off on them for slightly till your infant has eaten good ingredients for awhile, merely considering is a lot of ingrediants for a babies tummy to deal with, as nicely babies shouldn't have strawberries till a minimum of after the age one because of the fact there might nicely be hypersensitive reactions linked with them, I didnt do the making my own infant foodstuff long, yet I had a chum who did it, and mentioned she made it in batches and then iced over it in ice dice trays so as that she could make a lot and freeze in improve as a replace of doing it each and daily.
