My bf just had orthroscopic knee surgery yesterday to fix a minuscus tear. He is on Vicodin and is in extreme pain. Has anyone had this done, and is there anything this frustrated gf can do to help him relieve his pain between pain pill doses?
Thank you!

He must stay off of it, with his knee above the level of his heart. Use ice packs, 20 minutes on, 20 minutes off. And of course, take the pain meds on time every time. This worked for me.

I camped out in my favorite chair with an ottoman for like 2 weeks straight. I only got up to go to the bathroom and shower. My husband took very good care of me so I didn't have to get up very much.

Good luck.

Best way is to keep his mind off it and help him out the best you can. Don't let him get lazy though, or his knee will really hurt when it's time to start walking again. watch movies with him, or talk to him, keeping the mind busy. If he has time to think about the pain, he will go nuts.

Maybe he needs a different pain medication. I just had an acl replaced and the menisci repaired and it was excruciating. I was prescribed percoset and it didn't do crap for me. I called the surgeon's office and they called in lortab and that worked wonders.
