Out of Africa:

Multiregion Hypothesis:

Read these two theories. Both have some support. My opinion is that there was a lot of gene flow (migration) going on across Europe, Asia, and Africa for quite a long time, and there were probably a range of hominid subspecies.

I'm not sure what you mean by two opposing theories. The Theory of Evolution is the only scientifically accepted theory.

If you mean the creationist side as the opposing side, there are many opposing beliefs (but not theories). Some believe the bible literally and believe the earth is about 6000 years old. Some believe there was/is an intelligent designer that started everything with the big bang. There is nothing so far apart in evolutionary biology, paleontology, geology as this disconnect between 6000 years and 13 billion years.

Furthermore, on the creationist side, there is no effort to provide any actual facts or evidence for the beliefs. All they do is try to find some part of evolution that looks impossible. That is not scientific. If they want to put forth a new "theory" it needs to be based on proof and facts on their side rather than nibbling attacks against the other side.

Compare: Both "theories" share an ability to enrage the opposite camp. This is because the story of our origins affects how we see ourselves, which in turn affects how we see everything. So you can't go from being a creationist to an evolutionist without a substantial helping of cognitive dissonance, which is a fancy way of saying it hurts when you change your mind.

Many people will do anything rather than have to rethink things. This is equally true of the people in both camps.

The debate over our past is more than a question of history; it's a battle over our future. Humanity, from here, can either enter a new world where we are not special creations of a superbeing, where we're just another invention of chance. Or we can continue to live in the warm embrace of faith, believing that God, among all the possibilities of His infinite imagination, chose us to create, just us... and He made a whole vast universe just for us to live in.

Contrast: The largest measurable difference between them is the number of books you have to read.

What 2 theories?

There is the Theory of Evolution.
And the rest are hypothesis or myth as far as I know.

So only one true Theory

there are more than two theories
but if you mean between evolution from a single celled organism versus the mythological tale of Adam and Eve, I prefer the scientific theory
