Circumventing Internet access control systems with web proxies to access unauthorized web sites is a violation of school computer usage policy. You will get suspended and/or banned from using school computers when you get caught. Use school computers for school work, and myspace can wait until you get home. Do you really want your teachers and school administrators knowing what you are posting on myspace anyways?

Those are great and all but it really depends on how determined your school is to filtering sites like myspace. A couple of simple tactics to evade URL/IP filtering are:

* Use URL obfustication also known as URL encoding, this turns example.com into proxysite.com/url/dvwetw345berg/ which means your school can't determine what site you're browsing based on the URL.

* Use the site's IP address. If you're using Microsoft Windows 2000/XP and want to access a site like myspace.com (This wont work for sites on shared hosting) then Click "Start" and select "Run" and type "cmd". Once into commandline type "ping myspace.com" to resolve it to the IP address. As of writing the current IP address is 216.178.38.116 . This prevents your school from blocking the site based no hostname (myspace.com). Any smart network admin will have already blocked the IP address though.

* If your school haven't restricted the use of HTTP/SOCKS proxies then all you need to go is google for "proxies" and edit the proxy setting in your browser options. If you don't know how to do this I suggest your either google it or ask someone at your school, there are always a few people who know how to do this.

* For situations where the security is higher you can run a sock2http tunnel, this requires a fair amount of knowledge to do but there are sites out there like http://www.http-tunnel.com/html/solutions/http_tunnel/client.asp which offer a subscription fee to do it.
