I don't know of anyone "mocking" Iraqi citizens for wanting a future.
I have met people who are very happy we went to Iraq.
I have met people who think we shouldn't have gone.
I have met people who think we shouldn't have stayed this long.
I have met people who think we should stay only if there is a good chance we can be successful.
I have never met a single serious person who thinks we should intentionally fail.
The statement is ludicrous and insulting.
Iraq is a hellhole because:
There are 3 different groups in the country that despise each other enough to kill each other.
The resources of the country are unequally divided between these 3 groups.
Outside groups are doing their best to stir things us by providing weapons and insurgents.
We turned the country over to civilian leadership far too soon.
We entered with an inadequate force and unintentionally allowed a resistance time and space to become organized.
We don't want Iraq to be a hellhole but putting on our Rosie shades and claiming its a paradise is moronic.

From what I've seen, that is the major consciences. Although we went in under false information, we have done a world of good for Iraq. The majority of Iraqi citizens are grateful for our intervention. With any luck they will become a hands on government. Unlike the U.S. which has been reduced to everyone complaining about the way things are being run, yet doing nothing about it. If everyone who was eligible to vote did, it would make a world of difference.
As things stand right now, we let the minority vote these fools into office, and give them free reign to do what they think is best for us, instead of taking a stand, and making them do as we wish. We are supposed to run the government, not the other way around. We also have the right to call for the removal of politicians who are not representing our best interest.
In closing. If you don't vote, and make your voice heard, don't b*tch.

Classic hatchling strategy. Point talons at non-hatchling, accuse them of what you are guilty of and hope no one notices. If they do, close your eyes, drop to your knees and chant "what would RonnieGod do" until an elevated hatchling comes on TV or radio and channels RonnieGod.
You are of the void that is the one hatchling mind. That sound you hear is a cricket in the void.

NO. That is the kind of propaganda Bush gets from the Iraqis who are collaberators with his puppet regime.
Americans--3/4 of them--are sick of seeing BUSH cause the suffering of millions of Iraqis. In addition to bringing our soldiers home, real Americans want to see Bush's brutal abuse of the Iraqis stopped.

I'd say it is long past time for Iraqis to take control of their own future. After 5 years and hundreds of billions of dollars the patience of the US people has grown extremely thin.

I think this was something that needed to be said. The whole thing we're doing in Iraq shouldn't be about politics. It should be about helping the Iraqi people live.

It's a moot point in my opinion, they had no business being there in the first place.
The US administration lied to the people to get them there in the first place for one and thats just one in a long line of reasons why the question is moot and im sure there are many others people who live in the US could cite.

The proof of the pudding is that the news agencies have lowered their budgets for coverage in Iraq.
The media philosophy:
Impact is better than truth. Negative news has more impact.
They just don't want to say that Iraq is improving, mostly because there is no money in it.
The Democrats will never say it until they can call it their own.
They are much more concerned with handing Bush a defeat then a victory to the American people.
With this in mind, it is getting easier and easier to equate Democrat with Dangerous.
