CLOSER than those who don't ponder on problem of philosophy (questions about life). That is for sure, because at least you made your attempt of searching for something.
Truth exist for sure as a philosophical problem, and philosophy teaches you that. Whether it truly exists is beyond our present state to judge. All philosophers assume the possibility that truth exists.
To deny the existence of truth is impossible. Because how can you thought of something which does not exist. But I am not saying that truth exists because we cannot deny it (avoiding the fallacy known as Argumentum ad ignorantiam).
What philosophy does it that it helps us lessen things that are not a thought by most people as truth. For example, some people are so fanatic about the existence of God. Some would also say that God is someone who heals them, saves them from danger, etc (deity). Philosophically speaking, when we say God we don't refer to a religious god, but the concept of God is only accepted as that which is a PERFECT BEING, not a god who helps you in times of danger. Such philosophical insight is a step away from thoughtless conformity. Philosophy liberates us from the bondage of things we thought as TRUTH yet on the second thought they are FALSE TRUTH.

Philosophical thinking can reach the truth.
At the basis of all correct thought and reasoning are fundamental self-evident truths like the principle of non-contradiction -- something cannot both be and not be at the same time and in the same respect. Without fundamental philosophical principles like these, nothing would make sense. If something could both be and not be at the same time, then there would be no way to categorize it. It is … well it isn't … one could never make any correct statement about anything.
The statement … "everything is relative" … is a contradiction, a logical fallacy.
If the statement is true, then it contradicts itself because the very statement itself would be relative and not a true statement. It is self-evident that this can't be a true statement. So we have already reached a truth -- namely, that the statement … "everything is relative" … is false.
Reality, or the way things or reality exists -- the fundamental principles of existence, impose a reality on us and tell us that certain things can or cannot be true.
I also see statements like … "nothing is objective". This is a contradiction too.
If nothing is objective, then that statement would not be objective -- not a true statement, contradicting itself.

In my view, philosophic thoughts are the only means for us to approach the truth.... all other ways are self defeating since all of them begin with assumptions that are never tested for truth in the first place..... philosophic thought begins at zero level without any assumption and questions everything.

Philosophy antedates science by millions or billions of years. Science more than philosophy is the only vehicle in the modern world to arrive at the truth. Philosophy is the mother of all sciences. Today, orphaned and very much alone, Philosophy is best left as an individual study of speculative thinking and analysis in the school curriculum to those students preparatory to science.

Success would never be as gratifying without the possibility of failure. If you know when you set out on a venture that it is bound to work out well, where's the challenge? I feel I need to be careful how much I tell you, even though I have nothing but good news to share. Still, though, if you hear it and believe it, where will be your motivation? And, how will you live without the dramatic tension of uncertainty? Don't be too eager to dispel all doubt. A little mystery may yet give rise to a lot of magic.

The only truth that has significance is self-knowledge, the truth about our authentic nature - as unique individuals.
Developing that personal philosophy requires that we search for understanding throughout the sciences and religious traditions.

With the capacity of thinking alone, we go nowhere, but if there is conclusion and intelligence, the maximum the intelligence can realise in this material world is justice and in the spiritual sense, it is Brahman, the formless conception of God.
