It's far more selfish to have children you don't want. Choosing not to have kids hurts no one. There's nothing selfish about not wanting them. Having them and neglecting the ones already here is a different issue.

I don't think it is selfish....but you will be surprised how many people think it is....when you are having your nice holidays, and eating out, others will think you selfish...It takes a lot of will power to be out of step with your other female friends who have children...There is never a good financial time to have children...and even a child who is not planned for is loved...and wanted.....A hard decision to make.....but if you feel that children are not for you, then don't follow convention and have them simply because you think it is the thing to do.

More selfish to have children you don't want because most likely you wouldn't be as attentive to them. Nothing wrong with not wanting children.

I don't think I'd call it selfish exactly, but having children you don't want is just irresponsible and stupid. It makes for a miserable existence for all concerned. I don't believe you should have children for any reason other than wanting to.

Cannot see the selfish angle in any of the proposed arguments.
Children can be fun, and very friendly if you have them. Guess i it is a personal choice whether you prefer the company of adults or that of children. Kids are sweeter, but stink, but adults know more positions.

I think it depends on the reason why you don't want kids, a woman once told me she didn't want kids because she wanted to be the center of attention, and not her daughter...I would consider that selfish...
Having kids is a responsability we have to assume, I don't think it has anything to do with selfishness...
I don't want kids, I just want to adopt them, there are so many orphans out there who need a loving mother, so why bother getting pregnant? That,s my opinion.

I dont know about selfish, but it is deeply irresponsible to have children you dont want.

I dont think it is selfish not to want children either, it's a perfectly valid decision - there's no shortage of humans.

It's more selfish to have children you don't want. They won't get the proper love that they deserve and will have a horrible childhood. If people don't want kids they shouldn't feel pressure to have them.

I'm 30 and i don't want children and never have. i love my nephew and nieces, but I never want to be a parent myself. It's not selfish, it;'s just the way some people feel.
