enable's get this straight away, for as quickly as and for all. The Jews did not kill Jesus. in basic terms the Jewish severe courtroom could administer the loss of life penalty, and it substitute into not energetic. The Romans killed Jesus, to boot as 1000's of different Jews. The political situation on the time substitute into such that calling your self the messiah substitute into reminiscent of asserting conflict on Rome. The Romans went around nailing (ha!) any and all messianic candidate. no want for the Jews to communicate with the approach.

The Romans may have put him on the cross but it was the Jewish religious leaders that handed them the nails. At that time, it was the custom at passover to release a condemned criminal. The choice was Barabbas, who was incarcerated for sedition and murder, or Jesus. Either due to his own popularity with the people, or the influence of the religious hierarchy, it was Barabbas that was chosen. Pilate, the Roman governor, was actually anxious to save Jesus and have him released, though if he defied the will of the people, he may have had a province in uprising. Left with such a choice he let the pharisees have their way. On a side-note, please do not simply interpret my answer as, 'Yes the Jews killed him.' There is already enough ill will in the world and I do not want misinterpretation of my answer to add to that. Jealous, powerful, greedy men killed him. Exploiting their power over the masses by the manipulation of faith and fear. As to the Roman soldier who pierced his side with the spear. I thought it was accepted that this was an act of mercy, not brutality. He did it to end his suffering.

Jesus was a threat to the Jewish elite. They arrested him, put him on trial (guess you can say that), however they did not have the power to kill him, so they went to Pilate, gave him a few lies. Pilate then tortured Christ (I think no one can argue with that). Pilate than sent Christ in front of the people in the hopes of having the people want his release (according to the Bible, but I have my own theories on that). The Jewish elite had the Jewish people condemn Christ rather than release him. The Roman then did their job. In this way the Jews did not kill Christ, but the Jewish power elite did. With lies, half truths and whatever else they had in their arsenal.

Technically Romans killed him. But that was at the request of the Jews'priests who saw Jesus as a threat.

In some ways you can say. The Jewish didn't like Jesus, so they asked the Romans to kill him. The Romans just said "ah, it isn't a good thing but if you realy want us to do so, then ok" but the romans made sorta fun out of Jesus (like making him wear a spicky crown and stuff).

Jesus was just another Jew. The rest of the Jews thought that he was drawing too much attention to the Jewish people, and they were right, the Romans came and crucified him.

You are right, but the Roman Empire converted to Christianity, so at that point the church would not want to blame the Romans. It is much easier to lay blame with the Jewish people than to blame the empire who's capital is located in the same city as the See of the Catholic church.
