The respondent who answered that Ghana is part of the Ivory Coast is incorrect.
Ghana (formerly named Gold Coast when it was a colonial possession of Britain) is a country on the coast of West Africa. The country on Ghana's western border is Ivory Coast (a former colonial possession of France by the same name).
The country to the north of Ghana is Burkina Faso (a former French colony known as Upper Volta). The country to the east of Ghana is Togo (formerly Togoland, colonized by Germany but governed as two separate administrations by France and Britain under a League of Nations mandate after World War I).

Republic of Ghana is sandwiched between Benin and Ivory Coast on the West African continent. Its a nice place and very very hot and humid. Stay in the air conditioned Hotel as much as possible, I did!
