yes I do and I wish they weren't! I want to be able to enjoy them like it was when I was a kid but my family holds grudges and casts blame for every thing so there is always lots of tension at our gatherings! (when we have them)

i think many people find family gatherings stressful . there are very few family's that dont have any problems .(i know mine has).
the problem being ,coming up to Christmas its like we are all expected to be full of love and family spirit. its not always possible and while everyone tries to do there best, some people just make it difficult. Obviously because they are not going to change their behavior for the sake of the festivities and they are going to carry on behaving as they have all year BUT now you are expected to be nice to them. i don't have a solution for the family gathering except to say try and sit near someone who you can cope with and then relax and enjoy yourself. if it gets too difficult just leave for a breathe of fresh and and re-join when you feel refreshed (ask a friend to go with you for support

Only when I am the one hosting the gathering. If someone else is stuck doing the dirty work then I look forward to it. Of course I always try to help out the hostess, and then maybe I could get some help during my turn.

No. Fortunately, I have a wonderful family and I do really enjoy spending time with them. The only thing that is slightly challenging is that my mom always wants me to stay at my parents house over the holidays (we live in the same city) and I would rather be at my own house. She gets upset, so I stay in my old room, which is really unsettling.

Not really, as I'm not the one who has to sort out the "gathering". I rather enjoy them 'cause I have very old fashioned relatives where some are into religion and others are just plain prejudices and I love getting into arguments with and proving what bigots they are.

At times. I enjoy them because we don't get together as often as we used to. But it seems when we do get together, there's friction among some of us. We all happen to have some health and financial issues, unfortunately, and the conversation always ends up there and it turns into some who has it worse thing...like, come on...does it matter? It shouldn't, but it seems to some it does.

My Family is gathering next week for my sisters 50th birthday and the thought of my entire family together is stressing me out...I havent seen most of them for over 10 years.
you can choose your friends but not your family...

When it's the extended family yes, no one gets along. Otherwise they are normally pretty good, we'll have to wait and see what becomes of this years.
