The is no question the Czar did a bad job leading his country in WW1, and it cost the lives of many Russians. Many of the campaigns were throwing bodies at the enemy, his top general didn't believe in guns. He kept him on because he was a favorite uncle, and didn't want to make him angry. When the Czar took personal control of the army, it was a military disaster for the country. Most of the other European countries had made consistent progress on human rights, but very little had been done for the Russian peasants. A revolt was inevitable in time.
