Other than being depressed and anxious, I keep having these thoughts that won't go away. Thoughts telling me something is true when I know that its not. I don't think this way all of the time, mostly only when I'm alone and there's nothing to distract me. But, when I do, it makes me very depressed. What's wrong with me?

these thoughts are part of being depressed.
you should see your doctor (if you haven't already ) and take medication regularly as prescribed.
then you must try to improve your life . you are the only one who can do this, it is not up to other people to do it for you .
try to get out more in the fresh air and smile and talk to people even if you dont feel like doing it .
sometimes you Will not get any response ,but you must remember that not everyone has time to stop and pass the time with you.
a smile is infectious and once you start it is surprising how happier you will feel even if in the beginning its false and faked.
join any and every club you can find (look at posters and in papers to find some.
try an evening class or even a daytime class.
join the gym ,go swimming ,cycling anything just start living

think about what you want to do with your life and what you need to do to achieve that. if you are not sure talk to teachers ,carees advisers or friends and family for support.

most of all dont suffer alone with your problems you need friends and you need to enjoy life. make a change today and start

It's common. There are a TON of self help books on the subject, but they all boil down to ways to catch yourself when the thought starts, STOPPING it as soon as you spot it coming, and replace it with something good.

Example; if you always find yourself saying to yourself "No one will ever love me," teach yourself to stop the thought and switch it. "No one... (stop) can deny that I'm a great person!"

Sounds goofy but it really does work. Like I say, there's a million books and audios on people tellin you how to do it. I usually suggest THE POWER OF POITIVE THINKING since it's well written and a good used book store will have a copy for a buck.

The heart and the mind don't always agree on the best course of action, and the secret to a happy life is to find a direction that satisfies them both in a meaningful way.

Nothing, you are hypothesizing about the many aspects of a certain situation. I do it all the time. It is normal to think things through. My advice is to always choose the positive over the negative until proven otherwise. ;-)
