Uh......no?

I'd give that honor to Nirvana.

How old are you Scotty. You have to have been there at the time to realise what a breath of fresh air the Beatles were - composing and playing their own songs. The charts at the time were full of American crooners and British copies of them - with the notable exception of Elvis who was going soft by 1962 and Buddy Holly ( & the Crickets - beetles - get it!) who had just been killed. Listening to the Beatles now they may not sound so brilliant but that is listening out of context. So to answer your question - NO - the Beatles started it all for British bands.

No, the Beatles made some great and enduring songs. Now Oasis on the other hand - a few hits that all sound the same and a load of drunken brawls, and they think they are the best thing since sliced bread. Now *that's* overrated.

I'd say Nirvana or Radiohead for most over rated. When you think that the Beatles completely changed the entire music scene in the early 60's ... that's pretty impressive. The songs that Lennon/McCartney wrote (I know they were high on a lot of them) were nothing short of genius and I reckon they've influenced more artists and groups than any other band in history.

That's my arguement anyway!!!

No sorry your barking up the wrong tree. The Beatles were and still are great. They have not only created musical and movie masterpieces. They continue by inspiring artists of today's generation. I can never say the beatles were or are overated.

do i need to kill you now or imidiatly? the beatles Revolutionized Music, And everything after the beatles (beside pink floyd, who also revolutionized) is a result of a song that they did. i bet you didn't know that the beatles started almost type of rock, (except for physcodelic because pink floyd started that) : pop, hard, metal, soft etc etc i could go on for eva! i mean EX: the ramones (the first punk rock group) even admitted that the beatles really gave punk rock to them. so ha!

The Beatles have had such an influence on a wide range of music, I really don't know how you could possible think that they are overrated - unless of course, you just wanted to be controversial.......

You are Joking are you not? I have been racking my brains for a group with such staying power and such across the board and generations appeal, and with such a lot of talented artistes being inspired by them. My Grandad rated them as did my mum and me and my brother and cousins, and today my son and daughter and my Grandchildren 16 10 and 9 years and guess what? not in USA as well as UK can anything point to them being overrated. So get sober, and listen to them again!. OK

Of course! So many feel like no other band would have existed if The Beatles never did and that's the biggest lie I've ever heard in the history of music.

Crawl back under which ever sound-proof rock you came from matey.

That 'overated' accolade can be given to U2, NEVER to the Beatles.

I am guessing most of the bands you probably like would be nothing without their influence.

No,
and your question shows your ignorance of music trends over the last 50 years

Its a bit like saying George best wasn't really a good footballer, just because you didn't follow his team

you may not like their music but it was iconic for a whole generation
