Traditionally, religiously and culturally, a woman's place is a step behind the man. She is to follow his lead. Take care of home and hearth. She shouldn't be assertive in the world. That is where the saying came from.

I have no idea. Some men get off on verbally abusing women to the point of absolute submission. So I guess that's where putting a woman in her place comes into play. Personally, I think men like that are complete COWARDS. Thank you for the points and for listening. Have a great weekend.

The place is where the male takes full responsibility for bringing a woman down from the decision and opinion seat. Risky because if you fail you will be taken from that chair or throne and put into "place". So to answer your question its to be taken from the throne and place to a lower position where the responsibilities are few but so are her thoughts and reasons. Hope this helps

There is no specific place 4 women. They can go up-to any level. In olden days due 2 men's superiority they wanted 2 place women at a position below them. But it is stupid 2 think of putting a woman in her place in 2000's

This is a derogatory expression designed to put women down.
It is refering to when woman were only thought of being good enough to cook, clean & be a whore for the husband when it suited him! She is put there by standover tactics & force by the male.
Neanderthol thinking, when man went & hunted the food & the woman cooked it. They supposedly weren't good/strong enough for anything else.
Having said that, if it is said in jest & you have a sense of humour it can just mean you are having a joke or two or maybe it is your husbands idea of foreplay!!!!!!!!! ;p

aim a man i have been around the block and i would never say that because it is a stupid think to say i fell the men that say it must be insecure and do not look at women as an equal they want to think they have the power and are in controll because deep inside they are really whipped . so stop hanging around such whips it is time to meet some secure men

Those Poindexter guys shouldn't bother with those girls. They treat their love-life so loosely, you never know when they might just ditch you for some better catch. And there's also the possibility they're just there for your money. Best for these guys to get themselves girls who are serious and steady in their relationship; they'd be happier like that.

I think it means letting her know your in charge and your the man, depending on what type of woman she is, she may cry, stomp off angrily, kick you in the nut, or all of the above.

Prevent her from making moves on men, trying to rape them, or expressing feelings. Women should be seen and not heard.
