I don't think that I am, or at least I hope I don't come across that way. To quote Popeye:
"I am what I am and that's all that I am and I knows what I knows if ya knows what I mean."

A snob? LOL, hardly. Intellectual or otherwise. No, I have al-
ways been happy to meet other people and don't raise my
nose any higher than the next person LOL. So many people
act like they are superior to others. And if you were able to
find out their backgrounds, that would prove they had nothing
to be 'uppity' about. A few people come to mind on putting
on a ruse to appear well to do, and they had poor backgrounds. Even a princess I used to know from France,
wore all of her special jewels when she went out in public, as
her mother had always instructed her to do. And she would
defy anyone to be waited on at a service counter first, before
her. Feeling and acting as though she was the most important
customer. I was embarrassed but I learned how a 'royal' did
it. But then, the French aren't known for good manners or their
patience.
A few others I have known also tried to flaunt an appearance of a higher status of living, to seem more impor-
tant than they were. And it was to overcome the feelings that
they had of insecurity of how they'ed had to live.
I've never dressed up to impress people. But I do maintain
a well appearing presence when I am out in public. I won't go
shopping dressed willy nilly, but I dress in casual but nice
clothes. I don't have the occasion to really dress up
anymore. So I just look as nice and organized as I can. And
if that isn't good enough for some people, then that's too bad.
I figure if my mother didn't instill enough guidelines for me to
adhere to growing up, then I'm not going to be changing them
for any other person, than myself. So no, I am not an intellec-
tual snob and I don't associate with anyone who is either.

Not really. I do enjoy conversing with people on the same intellectual level, however. There are so few people I run into who can hold up their end of a discussion if it isn't about themselves or their problems/their job/their spouse, etc.

I LOVE to have good, lively debates with others who don't necessarily share my point of view but who enjoys discussing our differences.

I LOVE to discuss the "what if's" and the "what would happen if" and other philosophical topics. I enjoy hearing anothers point of view if it is presented intelligently.....

I guess it's simply a matter of enjoying a good conversationalist who has a good grasp of the English language, is a reader, who can hold his/her own in a lively discussion.

I don't think that makes me a snob.

I hope not.

I don't know if I would call myself an intellectual snob, but I do appreciate and admire intelligence in a person, and I believe I'm fairly intelligent. I'm the one in my family and among my friends that everyone comes to for spelling and grammar questions, and for just plain old common sense answers to problems. I am a little proud of that fact, so maybe I am just the wee teensiest bit snobbish... in a good healthy way....ha.

No, I'm not. I'm just a plain old country girl, I do try to use common sense, but that doesn't even always work. lol
There are some things I do know, but I also know there is a whole lot more I don't know, so I should just keep quiet. Have a nice visit to the Moors.

Do you seem down on somebody in the event that they have not got a level? or distinctive levels? I only seem down on people who're ignorant. a level has no longer something to do with it. Do you think of lowly of somebody who's grammar is probably no longer pristine? My grammer is horrid as you will locate... so no. Do you think of "Ewwwww, a extreme college dropout, what a loser!"? Im a highschool drop-out myself... nope! Do you pepper your communication with distant places words to sound worldly? Ha! no. thats pushin it. Do you drop e book titles on human beings and mentally rejoice once you call a e book they haven’t study? I do use books as reference in communication yet hardly conflict with human beings to be certain whos study what. Are you an psychological snob? You tell me and while you're, is that faulty? A snob is a snob, in spite of what "form" could you date a guy who's life became jointly yet he did no longer have the tiers or vocabulary which you do? why no longer? If i assumed we "clicked" id date tremendously plenty all people. Ive even given human beings possibilities who didnt even come on the area of having there life jointly. i admire diamonds interior the tough i assume you're able to say....

Yes I jolly well am, why on earth I answer questions from the peasants is utterly beyond me, however, I suppose I had better answer as you have taken the time to ask. I am, by definition, a gourmet, raconteur, connoisseur of fine wines, snappy dresser, the finest swordsman in the whole of Christendom and an all round damn good egg, which is infinitely a better pedigree than most of the clientele on this site.

Not at all . I have been thought of as a snob by some neighbours because I am introverted when it comes to meeting new people but they changed their opinion when they got to know me. Intellectual snob? No chance of that !

2007-11-09 00:51:07 · answer #9 · answered by Donna 7 · 2 0

No definitely not. I think plain old everyday common sense and kindness is just as important as being an intellectual.
We need all types of people, those who invent things, those working in medical research, factory workers and even those who clean the toilets. We all have a job to do and each one complements the other.
