Windows shows that 100GB of C: (the only partition of my hard disk) is full. but when I get properties of all files and folders in C: the total size of files is just 46GB! Could you help me to figure out the problem!

dear friend i want u to know wheater u saw the properties of all files by selecting all the files at once ???
if it was the case let me tell u that when u check each and every file/folder for its size and then add them up ,u will see the difference...........,it is just b'coz when u select many folders at once and check for their size it doesn't calculate the whole file size of sub-folders and so gives up wrong or misappropriate size (u can take it as a bug or loophole or anything in the o[erayong system design)

Each file takes up some number of "Blocks" in the file system. So, even a 1 byte file take up a whole block. The actual difference depends on the actual blocksize (which I think depends on how big the disk is among other things).

No problem. hahahaha. lets assume you have 100gb of space to use. 20g should be allotted for OS and peripherals. If you reach 70 % of disk usage, you should delete/burn files to create room. To create room, delete any unused programs/applications, also burn/delete unused files. Run the diskcleanup utility as well as the defrag tool.

Cluster Problem!
Use PartitionMagic to resolve it in a jiffy.

If you want the lengthy method:
Reboot form a CD and (Preferably PE) and run a Disk Check (It seems your partition table is corrupt)
