Hi I bought a steamer which used to steam chicken in 15 minutes, but now it takes 25-30 minutes! it looks like theres somehting wrong with it - the only thing i can think off is that the thing that heats the steamer is not working properly and may need a clean - anyone got any ideas??

I didn't take out insurance or anything on it so can't really take it back!

It might need descaling (like a kettle) try that, you can buy descalers at all supermarkets these days. If its not that, I'm not sure what to suggest!

I've got one too and have never been able to steam chicken in 15 minutes, has always taken nearly 30 mins.

Why don't you just get a new one if you're that bothered? Seen them in Woolworths for about £15 so they're not that expensive

try putting in a mix of 50/50 white vinegar and water and let it heat for awhile that should clean any scale off the heater...if that does not work..pitch it and get a new one....

Take it out back and shoot it like a horse with a broken leg.

Probably the thermostat. Call the manufacturer, and find out where it can be repaired, or if it has a separate cord with the thermostat in it, where you can purchase one.

try cleaning it , if you put boiling water in before you start it will work quicker drain it when you finish and don't let it boil dry
