I have fantail goldfish i got at walmart over a year ago and he is fine. i recently (2 weeks ago) purchased a telescope eye goldfish and put him with my other fish. i fed them last nite and when i came back a couple hours later, the telescope eye was dead...ive read that telescope eye goldfish have a hard time seeing and sometimes dont get as much food as fish with normal eyes and therefore shouldnt be housed with these fish. is this true? i would like to add a black moore to my aquarium, is this a bad idea?

This is true, it's not a good idea to do
But if you really want to do it, just try to target feed him

Hope that helps
Good luck

different telescope eye (or different fancy) goldfish. because of the fact telescope goldfish have comfortable eyes, that is actual injured, and because they are slower swimmers.. they might desire to be stored with others with an analogous "issues". A single fancy goldfish needs a 20 gallon tank. each and each extra goldfish after the 1st needs an extra 10 gallons. a million fancy goldfish = 20 gallons 2 fancy goldfish = 30 gallons 3 fancy goldfish = forty gallons Ect....

Hi Christin, Although Moors have a hard time spotting their food & consequently should only be kept with similar types I doubt very much if that was the cause of this particular death. I would suggest there are water issues here, perhaps the pH at the store was different to that in your tank & as your original fish has gotten used to it he was unaffected?

If you really must put new fish in established tanks without quarantining them for a couple of weeks then it is essential to match both the temperature & pH of the water he was in & that of your tank.

A telescope can't see directly where is the food. I recommend that you should not purchase another telescope-eyed goldfish. Meanwhile, black moores can also have a low sight.

Yes, very true. They can't see as well, and subsequently swim slower. It should be in a tank by itself, or with other Telescope Eyes.
