I'm doing a landscape design project, and really wanted to have a tree that's connected to wisdom, healing, etc. in a legend or mythology. I'm hoping for a tree that's good to read under, with a round top and hovering over it's trunk.
Does anyone have any suggestions?
Especially if it has a connection w. asian roots?

I've always liked the weeping willow myself, but I can't say what its origins or background are. I just like them, and lilac trees too. ;-)

The Oak tree is associated with wisdom, deep roots...family, and health. It is a wonderful tree to sit under and has great shade, as well as those great limbs to hang a swing. They create wonderful oxygen and have great leaves during the fall. There is also the Chinese apple. It has lovely pink flowers, gives off good shade and smells great. The limbs hang down, providing good shade and denotes wisdom.
A Weeping willow is my favorite but they need allot of moisture. There is also a Sassafras tree, I do not know what it is linked to, but the leaves are great, the shade is good, it grows pretty quickly and, when you pick a small shoot off of it, and strip the bark off, you can smell the wonderful licorice sent, and it was used for teas, toothbrushes...
