For me, we believe that mirrors in a house should be covered for sereval days prior to a death. This prevents the soul from being trapped into a mirror.
There are variations to the belief that mourning is supposedly good, because this portrays how valuable that person was before death. Others think that it's taboo as this will make the soul scared of crossing over.
Another thing we believe in is that after death, their souls become animals....usually moths. Weirdly enough, we do see moths around during a funeral and shortly after a death.

But that mostly depends on how you see it.

I don't believe in death superstition.
Like in taking pictures with just 3 persons. I know lots of friends who always in the center and they are still alive.

I have one superstition that when the person die with opened eyes the spirit of his will not crossover until he find someone to be his companion as he travel to the after life...

West or East, superstitions are common.

Why is number 13 avoided in many western hotels where the most educated frequent?

Human mind is basically common irrespective of all other man made differences.

No, I haven't heard of them, however I do believe if you kill a spider it will bring bad luck, or if you break a mirror it is automatic bad luck for seven years, I can find no other logical explanation for the bad luck that has occured in my life and I have no idea where these ideals of mine originated from, because no one else I know has them. I once broke five mirrors accidently on the same day, and broken a few out of pure hostility. I am doomed forever! ;-)

Lol, this is the first time I heard of these superstitions...

Personally, I dont believe any of them. Superstitions reside on one's mind. A supertitious person tends to relate everything that happens with that supertion .
Thing happen the way they supposed to happen, they dont follow a stupid supertition...
things happen from just pure coincidence or you are implying the idea in your mind and/or subconsciously make it happen

I haven't heard those.
The one I've heard is that a girl on her period can't be near a dead body or she'll get cancer.
